Frequently Asked Questions

When should I avoid getting a massage or facial?

Please! do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. Large open wounds, active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments, blood clots are not great for massage. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, I recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.

Do I have to be completely undressed? What do you wear for a massage or facial?

You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a top sheet. Regardless if you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are always properly covered. Please leave as much jewelry at home as you can.

For a facial I will have you change into a spa robe. You'll wear this as a tube top. I ask that from the top of the robe up be free of clothing and jewelry.

What if I fall asleep and snore or drool or fart?

It is very common for clients to fall asleep during their massage and even facials. I love knowing you are so relaxed! If you snore or drool, don’t worry, I've heard and seen it all. I take it as a compliment that you get to that state.  It is also very common when you are so relaxed during a massage, you can't always hold in your gas. No worries.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to reschedule your appointment, please look in your inbox for a confirmation email. At the bottom of the email there should be a link that you can reschedule your appointment yourself. You are also able to cancel this way.

Cancellations without 24 hour notice will result in a charge for your session, as that time has been set aside specifically for you. You will receive an invoice that will need to be settled before you are able to book with me again.

What should I do to prepare for my facial?

Since Balanced Therapeutics facials are designed to work on your skin from the neck up, you may want to plan on removing your makeup and pull long hair back. Cosmetics can be reapplied after the service; feel free to bring them with you. Men should be clean shaved unless bearded. Other than these few easy steps, simply be ready to relax and enjoy yourself in our private, comfortable facial room.

Massage and Facial Advice

First things first; SPEAK UP. This is your time that you are paying for! I want to make sure you are getting exactly what you wanted.

ASK questions. Want to know why I did something? Or want to make sure I get to something you requested. I really want to make sure you're leaving with the work you wanted, so please use your voice during your service!

Come in with as little jewelry as possible. Pull your hair back. Top buns work great. Let me know if you do not want any oil to touch your hair! If you have facial hair, please don't shave RIGHT before your facial, beards can stay.

If you can, fill out my intake form a head of time online. You should of received an email asking you to do so. Otherwise show up 5-10 minutes early so you'll have time for it. We'll also speak about what your expectations and goals are for the massage or facial. If you show up exactly at your appointment time this can cut into your hands on time.

It's really important to let me know of all allergies especially for facials. I have products that would not be good for someone with a gluten or aspirin or dairy allergy. A lot of my products are botanical based so it's also important to know of seasonal allergies.

I require draping for all massages and facials. For Thai Massage and Sports Stretch Massage I require you come in comfortable clothing such as yoga pants, scrubs or work out clothes. You will never be completely uncovered in my treatment room.

If you don't want to talk at all during your massage or facial that is completely okay! I understand the want and need to check out and relax. Please know that I still need to do the intake consultation with you first, just to make sure we're on the same page. Then you can be as silent or talkative as you would like.

I have trained extensively in the modalities and services I offer. I love the specialties that do for massage and skincare. I do not offer services such as waxing or prenatal massage. Please check out my Women Leaders page for some great referrals for these services!
